Dear musicians and music lovers from all walks of life,

I once noticed this quote posted on a music professor’s bulletin board at my alma mater, North Greenville University:

If we were a medical school, and you were here as a med student practicing appendectomies, you’d take your work very seriously because you would imagine that some night at 2am someone is going to…[come] into your emergency room and you’re going to have to save their  life.  Well,… someday at 8pm, someone is going to walk into your concert hall and bring you a mind that is confused, a heart that is overwhelmed, [and] a soul that is weary.  Whether they go out whole again will depend partly on how well you do your craft.  (Karl Paulnack - Director of Music Division and member of the piano faculty, Boston University)

This quote very aptly describes my goal as a musician.  The Lord created music with the unique ability to affect the mind, heart, and soul for the better.  Through this auditory medium, the Great Physician heals us, comforts us, and brings us closer to Him.

Indeed, I write, play, and teach music in the hopes that someone will be touched, that someone will be brought to the Lord. I want my art to point to the One who created us, the One who loves us, and the One who is in control of our lives. As someone who struggles with anxiety, I always find it calming to know that my life was planned and is controlled by a loving Creator - and what better way to be reminded of this than through music! It is my prayer, then, that the Lord will use my musical endeavors to spread the Good News and reach those who need Him the most.

Prayers and blessings,

Sabrina Brem
